Make a Real Difference in London’s Communities
Are you passionate about delivering high–quality patient care and looking for a role where you can genuinely save lives? Join our London AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm) Screening Programme - an essential service helping detect life-threatening conditions early for men aged 65 and over across the city.
Whether you're looking to start your journey as a Trainee Technician or you’re already qualified, this is a fantastic opportunity to build a rewarding career while travelling across vibrant South London communities. If you're London-based (or can easily commute around the city), this role is perfectly suited to you.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an AAA Screening Technician, you'll become a vital part of our community-based ultrasound service. Every day, you’ll:
-
Carry out abdominal ultrasound screening to national standards
-
Assess ultrasound images and share results with patients and their GPs
-
Provide reassurance, clear explanations, and compassionate support
-
Help men understand their results and what further care pathways may mean for them
You won’t just be performing scans - you’ll be a calm, reassuring presence helping patients through potentially life-changing information.
Your Key Responsibilities
-
Deliver high-quality ultrasound screening in line with NAAASP and local protocols
-
Put patients at ease, gain informed consent, and answer questions with confidence
-
Communicate outcomes clearly, whether in person or through relatives/carers
-
Flag any concerns to the Screening Manager or Clinical Skills Trainer
-
Accurately record and handle patient data in line with GDPR
-
Transport portable ultrasound equipment between London clinics
-
Ensure every patient receives the correct results—every detail matters in this role
What We’re Looking For
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
-
An understanding of patient care, clinical environments and confidentiality
-
Experience working as part of a team and communicating with people at all levels
-
Knowledge of medical terminology (or the ability to learn quickly)
-
Confidence to make informed decisions but also know when to seek support
-
Strong communication skills - both verbal and written
-
IT literacy, especially with Microsoft applications
-
The physical ability to move portable ultrasound equipment between London sites
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, travelling between locations, and interacting directly with patients. If you're based in London, even better - you’ll be right at the heart of where we deliver this life-saving service.
Why Join Us?
-
Full training and ongoing support from experienced clinical trainers
-
Opportunities to grow into more advanced screening or clinical roles
-
The satisfaction of knowing your work has a direct impact on patient outcomes
-
A role that keeps you active, engaged, and connected to the diverse communities of London
