We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Breast Care Nurse to join our specialist breast services team. This is a highly rewarding role, where you will provide expert clinical and emotional support to women navigating through breast screening, breast assessment, diagnosis and onward referral for treatment.
You will play a key part in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring every woman receives compassionate, timely and informed support.
What you will do
- Support women from initial screening, through assessment, to diagnosis and referral for treatment.
- Provide specialist practical, psychological and emotional support, evidence-based advice and clear communication to women and their families. This will include Very High Risk and Duty of Candour situations
- Assist in breast clinics, completing HNAs, providing post-procedure guidance and supporting clinicians and junior staff.
- Identify women requiring additional assistance ensuring they receive appropriate support and reasonable adjustments where necessary.
- Be present when a woman receives a cancer diagnosis giving appropriate and sensitive support.
- Deliver benign results by telephone and face-to-face with clarity and professionalism.
- Participate in MDT meetings.
- Provide leadership in the absence of the Lead BCN.
- Co-ordinate investigations and any necessary follow-up.
- Assist in the induction, training and support of new colleagues and junior staff.
- Act as a trusted resource for colleagues, sharing knowledge and promoting best practice.
- Establish and maintain links with external breast care services.
- Participate in the planning, development and enhancement of local breast care services attending meetings as required - eg management, clinical governance, programme board
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date nursing records within the clinical NBSS system.
- Adhere to National Breast Screening Programme guidelines and InHealth policies.
- Promote women’s health, breast awareness and screening uptake.
- Develop an active Health Promotion programme across the county.

Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration.
- Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience
- Relevant degree or equivalent nursing qualification
- Qualification in Breast Care Nursing and at least 1 year experience within the speciality
- Advanced Communications Training
- Competent IT skills and documentation accuracy
