We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to join the Surrey Diabetic Eye Screening Programme (DESP) as a Team LeaderThis is a dynamic and rewarding role supporting a well established programme.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide in-clinic support to their team and should be willing to travel across the whole Surrey programme area, with regular attendance at the programme office in Guildford.

What you will do:
 
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, training and where necessary challenge inappropriate behaviour in order to ensure a consistently high-quality diabetic eye screening and grading service is provided by all members of the Programme.
  • Assist members of the teams to complete their level 3 Diploma for Health Screeners Qualification and ensure teams are kept informed of development, new policies, procedures and working practices.
  • Assist the Programme Manager in the completion and dissemination of the screening and grading schedule including the staff rota.
  • Working with the Programme Manager, co-ordinate the input of members of the team to ensure cover is always provided for the screening clinics and grading service.
  • Monitor the clinic environments across the Programme area in order that clinical and organisational standards are maintained.
  • Contribute to the goals and objectives of the whole Diabetic Eye Screening Programme’s Screening and Grading Team and demonstrate team leadership.
  • Oversee all compliance carried out by team leaders venue/screeners and assist where required.
  • Adopt a ‘problem solving approach’ and use your best judgement and analysis in order to identify solutions to challenges in day to day operations.
  • Maintain the highest standards of patient care and service delivery.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who demonstrates:

  • Strong organisational and leadership skills
  • Reliability, positivity, empathy, and flexibility
  • Proven excellence with TAT and Kappa scores
  • ROG grading experience or a clear ambition to progress to ROG
  • A commitment to delivering a high-quality screening service
  • Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Diploma or level 3 Diploma for Health Screeners

Ideally, we would like an HSD assessor or someone who is willing to undertake the qualification to become one- but this is not essential.
