About the role

Healthcare Support Worker / Decontamination Technician
Endoscopy | Bristol Community Diagnostic Centre

37.5 hours / 8am - 6pm 4 days a week / Flexibility required Monday to Sunday on a rota basis.

At InHealth, we are expanding our Endoscopy team and are looking for a Healthcare Support Worker / Decontamination Technician to join our brand-new Community Diagnostic Centre in Bristol.

This is a dual role with a significant focus on decontamination. Approximately 50% of your time will be spent in our decontamination unit, carrying out the essential cleaning and processing of endoscopes to ensure they are safe, compliant, and ready for patient procedures. This is a highly important, technical part of the service and plays a critical role in patient safety and infection prevention.

Alongside this, you will also support the delivery of a high-quality Endoscopy service, contributing to patient care that recognises the psychological, physical, and social needs of every individual.

If you are interested in a hands-on role that combines patient interaction with technical, safety-critical cleaning processes, this could be a great opportunity for you. We are also happy to arrange site tours so you can see first-hand how our state-of-the-art decontamination and clinical areas operate behind the scenes.

What you’ll do

  • Carry out endoscope decontamination, using specialist equipment to clean, disinfect and prepare scopes in line with strict clinical standards
  • Ensure all equipment is safe, compliant and ready for procedures, reporting any faults or issues promptly
  • Support patient care, including welcoming patients and assisting in line with care plans set by senior staff
  • Maintain clean, safe and organised clinical and decontamination areas at all times
  • Communicate effectively with patients and the multidisciplinary team to support a smooth service

About you

  • Interested in a hands-on role combining patient care and technical cleaning/decontamination work
  • Understanding of (or willingness to learn) health & safety, infection control and decontamination processes
  • Comfortable spending a significant proportion of your role in a decontamination environment
  • Strong attention to detail with good organisation and time management skills
  • Effective communicator, flexible, and committed to ongoing learning and development
